Nuts for Everyday Health: Benefits and How Much to Eat

Nuts for Everyday Health: Benefits and How Much to Eat | Orange Fitness, Kai City, Yamanashi

Hello, everyone! I hope you are spending a lively, smiling day.

This time I’ll introduce a superfood I’ve used for many years: nuts, starting with almonds. Lately supermarkets and drugstores have a wide range of nuts on their shelves, such as almonds, cashews and pistachios. They are certainly very popular health foods. Do you eat nuts like almonds regularly?

I try not to snack, but sometimes I do get a little hungry. At those times, I eat the almonds I always keep on hand. The more you chew, the more flavor spreads, and they’re delicious. My recommendation, by the way, is the plain roasted almonds from KALDI. I like them a lot as a simple, healthy nut.

Health benefits of nuts

Nuts are rich in protein, which supports muscle repair and growth, and in good-quality fats that serve as an energy source. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals, full of nutrients essential for day-to-day health. And eating nuts makes you feel full, so having some before a meal can help you eat less.

Benefits of nuts include a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, better metabolism, brain health, a lower risk of diabetes and a better gut environment. These health benefits are backed by many scientific studies. For example, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized that “eating 1.5 ounces (about 42 g) of nuts a day may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease such as heart attack.”

How much to eat in a day

So how many nuts should you eat in a day? When I looked into it, 30 g is said to be a sensible amount. That is roughly 20–25 almonds. Nuts are highly nutritious but also rich in calories, so be careful not to overeat. And if you have a nut allergy, please avoid them.
